He is also the Director of the Centre for Technology Innovation and Deputy Rector for Innovation Partnerships of the UPM. He is the former Vice President for Research at UPM, and among his relevant positions in the Spanish Administration of Science and Technology he has been Deputy General Director for International Relations on R&D; Deputy General Director at the Office of Science and Technology attached to the Presidency of the Government; and Secretary General for Science Policy at the Ministry of Science and Technology, where he was responsible for the National R&D Plan and International Relations. He was also Chairman of the Follow up of the Lisbon Strategy Group, Chairman of the Space Advisory Group, Chairman of the Research Infrastructures Group, and member of the Mid-term review panel of ICT-FP7. Today, he is the Spanish representative in the Strategic Forum for International Cooperation (SFIC) of the European Union Council. U2 - Technical University of Madrid Roberto Martinez is the Deputy Director of the European Research & Innovation Office at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) in Spain, and he is an evaluator and reviewer for the Research and Innovation Programmes of the European Commission. He graduated as a Telecommunication Engineer from the School of Telecommunication for UPM, and he has a Master's Degree in Economics and Innovation Management and Technology Policy. From the beginnings of his professional career, he has been involved in several initiatives related to cooperation between Europe and Latin America in the information and communication technologies field. His research interests are linked to innovation ecosystems driven by universities, acting as a focus for value co-creation and acceleration and commercialization of technologies. ER -
